Boise is Idaho's capital and largest city, nicknamed the City of Trees, and RVers come for the Boise River Greenbelt, Boise State University and downtown. The high-desert climate brings hot, dry summers and cold winters with snow, so late spring through early fall is the main season, though several parks stay open all year and mix nightly guests with monthly residents. Only one park on this list sits inside Boise city limits. The Treasure Valley's parks stretch west along I-84 through Meridian and Nampa, and several of the best-rated ones are in Caldwell, roughly 30 minutes out, near Lake Lowell and the Warhawk Air Museum. Camping beyond the Treasure Valley?
Plenty of Boise trips end somewhere without a pedestal: a Forest Service site in the mountains north of town, a stretch of BLM land out in the Owyhee country, a cold night at a trailhead.
