Best RV Parks in Albuquerque, NM

Albuquerque sits along the Rio Grande where I-40 meets I-25, with the Sandia Mountains on the east side and Petroglyph National Monument on the West Mesa. High-desert sun and dry air make it a year-round stop: summer days run hot, nights cool off quickly, and snowbirds settle in for the winter. October is the big month, when the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta fills parks months ahead. Most private parks are on the West Mesa, several of them along old Route 66 at I-40 Exit 149, about 8 miles west of Old Town, with a couple more closer in near the monument.

Heading out onto the high desert?

From Albuquerque it is an easy drive to national forest and BLM land, the Jemez Mountains and Chaco Canyon, where hookups are scarce or missing. A portable power station runs lights, phones and a small fridge without a generator, keeps the coffee going on a cold balloon morning, and with New Mexico sun overhead, solar panels can recharge it during the day.
