St. Augustine was founded by the Spanish in 1565, which makes it the oldest continuously occupied European-founded city in the continental US, and most RVers come to walk St. George Street and tour the Castillo de San Marcos. The Atlantic beaches on Anastasia Island are only a few miles from the old town. Mild winters make the city a favorite snowbird stop and a natural break on the I-95 run to South Florida, while summers turn hot and humid. Parks fall into two groups: beach parks along A1A, from Vilano and North Beach down to St. Augustine Beach, and inland parks at the I-95 interchanges at SR 207 and Exit 318.

Beach day or storm day?
St. Augustine trips tend to mix long beach afternoons with walking tours, and an Atlantic storm can knock out a campground's power for hours. A portable power station keeps a fan, the fridge and your phones running through an outage, and it can come along to the sand for a speaker or an electric cooler. A folding solar panel recharges it between outings.
If you are sizing one for the rig, our guide to what size portable power station you need walks through the math.
