Kissimmee is the closest city to Walt Disney World, and US-192 is the main road in for most RVers headed to the parks. Winters are mild and bring the heaviest traffic, while summers are hot, humid and stormy, with hurricane season running June through November. Not everyone comes for the rides: Lake Tohopekaliga and East Lake Toho are known for bass fishing and airboat tours, and Osceola Heritage Park hosts the Silver Spurs Rodeo. The parks below split between quiet lakeside and country settings and the busy corridor close to the theme parks.
East Toho RV Resort & Marina
A renovated 90-acre lakefront campground on East Lake Tohopekaliga with paved pull-through supersites and stocked ponds under old oaks. A 55-foot-wide boat launch serves bass anglers, and airboat tours and propane refills are on site.

Johnston Springs RV Campground & Storage
A family-owned campground on more than 50 acres that was once the Merry D bird sanctuary, with very large full-hookup sites, two catch-and-release fishing ponds and nature paths. There is a new BBQ pavilion, fire pits and even an outdoor chapel.

Kissimmee RV Park
A park on Old Vineland Road about 6.5 miles from Walt Disney World, with a pool, shuffleboard, horseshoes and cornhole. In winter it runs a full activity schedule, from bingo and potlucks to water aerobics.

Ponderosa RV Park
A 200-site resort just off US-192 with paved pull-through sites, concrete patios and full hookups at 20, 30 and 50 amp. It sits across from Osceola Heritage Park and the Silver Spurs arena, and an Orlando bus stops at the entrance.

Long days at the parks, short nights at camp?
