Bringing an RV to Key West takes some planning. Space at the end of the Overseas Highway is tight, and several of the campgrounds you will see on a map are military-only, so civilian sites go fast and nightly rates run high. Most of the options sit on Stock Island, the next island east, about four miles from Duval Street, with a few more scattered through the Lower Keys toward mile marker 14. Winter is the busy season, and event weekends like Fantasy Fest in late October and Hemingway Days in July book up early. Reserve well ahead.

Keeping the lights on in the Keys?
Storm season and long travel days down US-1 are part of RV life in the Keys. A portable power station runs a fan, a CPAP and your phones through an outage or a long travel day, and a solar panel keeps it charged in the island sun.
If you are weighing backup options, our guide to how long a power station runs a refrigerator is a good place to start.
