Houston stays hot and sticky from May through September and turns mild in winter, so fall through spring is the comfortable stretch for RV travel, and shade and a pool count for a lot in summer. Many RVers come for the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical complex in the world, as patients, family members or staff. Others are in town for Space Center Houston, events at NRG Stadium or energy-industry work. Parks gather in four areas: South Main and Holmes Road near the Medical Center and NRG, the west side toward Katy along I-10, Lake Houston and Huffman to the northeast, and Fort Bend County along the Brazos near Sugar Land. Gulf hurricane season runs June to November.

What if the power drops in August?
Houston summers run long and muggy, and a thunderstorm or tropical system can knock out power across a whole park at the worst time. A portable power station keeps fans, the fridge, phones and medical devices like a CPAP going, which matters for anyone in town for treatment at the Medical Center. Pair it with a solar panel and it can recharge in the Texas sun.
