Watts x minutes / 60 = watt-hours. A 900 W toaster running for 3 minutes uses about 45 Wh, less than 1 cent at 17 cents per kWh. A 1,800 W toaster oven running for 20 minutes uses about 600 Wh, about 10 cents.

Yes, if its continuous output is higher than the toaster's watts. A toaster draws its full rating the whole time it is toasting.

Can a generator run a toaster?

Yes. A toaster is a heating element with no motor, so there is no starting surge. A generator like the DuroMax XP5500HX (4,500 running watts, CO alert, $629) runs a toaster, coffee maker, and refrigerator together.

More kitchen wattage: coffee maker, air fryer, microwave, and electric stove.
