Solar storage built to last: Trojan SSIG 06 235
Why You'll Love The Trojan SSIG 06 235
-
Purpose-built for solar, not adapted for it. Trojan engineered the SSIG 06 235 specifically for solar, off-grid, grid-tied and unstable-grid systems, so it's designed around the daily charge-and-discharge rhythm your panels actually create.
-
Made for harsh conditions. The Polyon™ ultra-rugged case resists damage from tough environments and guards against acid leaks, and it operates from -4°F right up to 113°F — so a baking shed or a hard winter won't faze it.
-
Long life from proven internals. Maxguard® XL separators and the Alpha Plus® paste formulation are built for long service life and lower overall maintenance costs, which is what really keeps your cost-per-year down.
-
Easier to handle and build with. At 58 lbs it's far more manageable than larger L16 cells, so wiring four for 24V or eight for 48V is a job you can actually do yourself.
Your life, with the Trojan SSIG 06 235
Off-grid power comes down to one quiet question: will the bank still be there in five years?
The Trojan SSIG 06 235 is built to answer it. Trojan designed this battery for solar, off-grid and unstable-grid systems specifically, so it's made for exactly the cycle your panels put it through — charge through the day, draw down through the evening, and repeat.
At 58 lbs per battery, building your bank stays a manageable job rather than a two-person ordeal. Wire four together for 24V, eight for 48V, and each one contributes 1.42 kWh of storage working quietly in the background.
It's the internals that decide how long a bank really lasts.
Maxguard® XL separators and Trojan's Alpha Plus® paste formulation are engineered for long service life, with the paste chemistry optimised specifically for deep cycle operation. The Polyon™ case is built to take knocks and resist the acid leaks that shorten a battery's life, and flame arrestors are fitted as standard. The battery is also 99% recyclable at the end of its working life.
This is a flooded battery, so it does ask something of you: proper ventilation, and regular checks and topping up of the cells. If you're running a larger bank, Trojan's optional HydroLink single-point watering system makes that job considerably faster.

Disclaimer: The information on this page is provided for general guidance only and should not be taken as professional, electrical or medical advice. The Trojan SSIG 06 235 is a vented flooded lead-acid battery weighing 58 lbs. It contains sulfuric acid and can release hydrogen gas while charging — Trojan advises that batteries must not be installed or charged in a sealed or non-ventilated compartment. Water the cells and set your charger strictly in line with Trojan's data sheet and your local codes, as constant under- or over-charging will shorten battery life. Always use appropriate personal protective equipment, and consult a qualified electrician if you are unsure. Every situation is different, so if you have any doubt, please seek professional guidance before purchasing or installing. Products are used at your own risk.
