Propane Generators

Propane Generators for Home Backup, Job Sites, and RVs

A propane generator runs on clean-burning liquid propane, the same fuel in a grill tank or a larger home tank. Propane stores for years without going stale, so it is ready when an outage hits. Every generator in this collection is dual fuel or tri fuel, so it also runs on gasoline when propane is not on hand. Krato Power carries DuroMax and DuroStar propane-capable portables with free shipping, no sales tax, and a price-match guarantee.

Popular propane generators

• Light backup and job sites: the DuroMax XP5500HX covers a fridge, lights, and a few circuits.
• Home backup through a transfer switch: the DuroMax XP13000HX and XP15500HX have the output for essential home circuits.
• The most power: the DuroMax XP17500HX is the largest dual fuel portable we carry.
• Add natural gas: tri fuel models like the XP13000HXT, XP15000HXT+, and XP17500HXT also run on a home natural gas line. See all tri fuel generators.

Propane vs gasoline

Gasoline usually gives a little more output, while propane is easier to store and burns cleaner. Running watts on propane are listed separately on each product page, so size your generator to the propane figure if that is the fuel you plan to use. Our guide on dual fuel generators: gas vs propane compares cost, runtime, and how long a 20 lb tank lasts.

Connect it to your home

To power hard-wired circuits, connect through a transfer switch or a generator interlock kit installed by a licensed electrician.

Never run a generator indoors or in a garage. Carbon monoxide is deadly.
