The SimpliPhi AmpliPHI 48V 3.8kWh battery is designed with integrated, closed-loop communications specifically pre-configured to work with Sol-Ark inverters. This compatibility simplifies the setup process by allowing the battery management system (BMS) to automatically communicate critical data to the inverter, ensuring optimal performance and safety. 
Key features of the integrated communication
  • Automatic settings: Once you enable the "BMS Lithium Battery" setting in the Sol-Ark's battery setup menu and set the address to "00," the inverter will automatically populate the correct charging and discharging parameters based on the battery's BMS data.
  • Real-time monitoring: The integrated system provides the Sol-Ark inverter with real-time data, including the battery's State of Charge (SOC). This eliminates the need for manual programming and allows for precise system control.
  • Optimal performance and safety: The closed-loop communication ensures that the inverter and battery work together efficiently and safely. The battery communicates important information, such as maximum charge and discharge rates, to the inverter, which helps protect the battery and extends its lifespan.
  • Simplified installation: The communications use a standard, off-the-shelf Ethernet (RJ45) cable, which connects the battery's CAN port to the inverter's CAN port. No custom cable is needed. 

Connecting the SimpliPhi battery to a  Sol-Ark  inverter
  1. Cable batteries together: If you are using multiple AmpliPHI batteries, connect them in a daisy-chain using the included RJ45 cables. You will then need to place a 120 Ohm terminator on each end of the battery chain.
  2. Connect to inverter: Use an RJ45 Ethernet cable to connect the CAN port on one of the batteries to the CAN port on your Sol-Ark inverter.
  3. Access inverter menu: Press "Enter" on the Sol-Ark display to navigate to the System Setup screen.
  4. Configure battery settings: Go to the "Battery Setup" tab and check the box labeled "BMS Lithium Batt." In the "Address" field, enter "00".
  5. Confirm auto-population: The Sol-Ark will automatically populate the correct charging and discharging parameters after you enable BMS communications.
  6. Adjust advanced settings (optional): To maximize battery life and qualify for the full 10-year / 10,000-cycle warranty, SimpliPhi recommends limiting the maximum Depth of Discharge (DoD) to 80%. This can be set in the Sol-Ark's Grid Setup menu.
  7. Do not install the external temperature sensor: The SimpliPhi BMS provides its own temperature data, so do not install a separate battery temperature sensor on the battery terminals.
