The Magnum MMS1012 is a 1,000-watt, 12-volt pure sine inverter with a built-in 50-amp, 4-stage battery charger and a 20-amp automatic transfer relay. This compact and lightweight model is designed for smaller power systems in mobile applications, such as RVs and boats, or for off-grid and backup power. 
Key features
  • 1,000 watts continuous power: The inverter provides 1,000 watts of continuous, clean pure sine wave power for sensitive electronics. It can also handle surges up to 1,750 watts for five seconds and 2,500 watts for 100 milliseconds.
  • 50-amp PFC charger: A Power Factor Corrected (PFC) charger is integrated into the unit. It is highly efficient and uses less energy from a generator or shore power compared to a standard charger. The charger has settings for multiple battery types, including flooded, AGM, and lithium iron phosphate (LFP).
  • Automatic transfer switch: A 20-amp automatic transfer relay allows the unit to switch between inverter power (from batteries) and AC power (from shore or generator) seamlessly.
  • Available versions: The  MMS1012  comes in different versions with varying AC connections:
    • MMS1012-L : Features pigtail wires for hardwiring into an AC distribution panel.
    • MMS1012-GL : Includes a 3-foot plug-in power cord and a dual GFCI AC outlet.
  • Temperature compensation: The unit ships with a 15-foot battery temperature sensor to ensure proper charging and prevent damage to your battery bank.
  • Robust design: Built with an aluminum base that acts as a heat sink, the inverter is designed for superior cooling and has multiple safety features, including protection against overcurrent and high/low battery voltage. 
Compatible accessories Optional accessories are available to expand the inverter's functionality: Remotes (ME-RC, ME-ARC, ME-MR): Allows for remote monitoring, programming, and operation of the inverter/charger.
  • Automatic Generator Start (ME-AGS-N): Automatically starts or stops a generator based on certain conditions.
  • Battery Monitor Kit (ME-BMK-L): Provides precise DC voltage and current measurements to determine your battery's state of charge. 
Installation considerations According to the manual, proper installation is critical for performance and safety. Mounting: The unit should be mounted in a clean, dry, and cool area with good ventilation. It should not be mounted in the same compartment as batteries, due to the risk of corrosive gases.
  • Wiring: Use appropriate wire gauges for both the AC and DC connections. Magnum recommends a fuse or circuit breaker for the DC positive line, installed within 18 inches of the battery for maximum protection.
